How to Write

This course is about improving your skill in writing, I will give you the basic skills that you can add or change sentences and the overall idea of your texts. Here is the roadmap throughout these boxes:

• Sentence openers
• Advanced vocabulary
• Grammar
• Show vs Tell
• Independent clauses

From the name itself, it is the introduction to the sentence. A pattern you see throughout these texts is the concept of variety! This is also needed here, have a variety of sentence openers to not make it boring. For example:

• As the girl let go, she saw the balloon flying high in the sky.
• If the sword is your weapon then your shield is the defense.
• In a world filled with stormy nights, Bob hears the thunders strike.

You may need some fancy words at your disposal to make some words and sentences interesting. A great way to learn and apply vocabulary in my opinion, is to find unique and interesting words you haven't known about.

Here is a word you can try to apply "cacophony", if you already know this that's awesome.

• Cacophony - a harsh discordant mixture of sounds.

(Note: don't use this too much, have a balance and variety of them!)

I even fail this too, I got deductions for my essays because of this :( . Anyways, this is one of the fundamentals to writing as a whole. It is the right and proper use of sentences

This is most typically found in stories, but you can use it anywhere. It means to not say it but to describe it. For example:

• Tell: he is curious
• Show: he had wide eyes when seeing the topic

This trick can instantly improve your sentences when you start applying it.

These are sentences that don't fully complete the sentence. Unlike the dependent clauses, this adds more sentences to describe and specify it through commas(,). Here is an example:

• As the clock chimes, time flew, I wonder around my mind

In the start I added a few clauses that describe the background before the main point. (Note: When using this, have a variety of lengths. Make some long and small.)

Writing is the art of expressing your ideas and thoughts. The fundamentals help express them such as sentence openers to give the point, advanced vocabulary to tell complicated thoughts, grammar, 'show vs tell' to describe your ideas, and independent clauses to get the background.
