How To Turn Knowledge Into Action : Jim Kwik

jimkwik.com

Turning knowledge into achievement
  • Knowledge leads to results & achievement only when we let it guide our actions.
  • To efficiently use brainspace & ignite creative new ideas, ask yourself:

     1. How can I use this (to help channel
focus in that direction) ?

     2. Why must I use this? "Well done" is
much better than "well said".

     3. When will I use this (to generate
motivation internally)?

     4. How am I going to teach this to
somebody to make it a part of my
perspective?

"How CAN I use this?"
  • Start every learning process with "How can I use this?"...the possibilites of that knowledge for you... that's the first thing to direct your focus towards.
  • Questions activate the RAS system of the brain responsible for directing our attention.
  • Attention directs energy flow & leads to action.

"Why MUST I use this?"
  • If emotions aren't involved in a decision, the knowledge from the head doesn't reach the hands as action. H cubed...the head-heart-hand connection. No meaningful action comes without conviction, the involvement of the heart.
  • That's why it's important to find the 'must'...explore the benefits, involve emotions to improve chances of action.
  • It's important for your actions to reflect your wisdom...to show what you are capable of. It's better 'well done' than 'well said'.

"When WILL I use this?"
  • Dreams become real when you put them into your calendar....they turn into goals.
  • Don't cancel on yourself. Treat it as other most important things in your life.
  • You can't get validation from others outside of you. Motivation to put your priorities first run out of steam if it's dependant on outside stimulus...it has to come from within you. 👇
  • When motivation comes from within, we start doing things because it's who we are.

"How do I teach this to someone I love?"
  • When we teach something, it becomes a part of who we are...not just reiterating the words. It becomes personal.
  • When we share something, we learn in twice. We get a more personal perspective on the knowledge.
