What is String Theory?

What is String Theory?

String Theory is the idea that instead of having Dot-like Particles, String-like particles could be more representative of the universe.

String Theory is also a theory of Quantum Gravity which essentially means that vibrational state of the string (or in other words the current dimension of the string) represents a graviton (a hypothetical gravity particle).

Although a full explanation of String Theory isn't possible, it is still important to note that the initial use for String Theory was to unite General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics.

Looks like we aren't going to get there anytime soon.
