- Once you've decided the job is not a good fit, it's important to let the hiring manager know as soon as possible.
- Don't drop out less than a day before an interview, as it may appear unprofessional.
- In your rejection, thank them for their time and mention which roles better fit you.
- Offer a referral to soften the blow.
- If you can, let them know about your decision over the phone.
- After you back out, connect with them on LinkedIn or send occasional messages to show you are still interested in the company.
