Wherever you are in your career, there are two main ways to get a Product Management job:

  1. Make the move to product within your own company.
  2. Move to a role similar to yours in a company that has PMs.
  • Get certified as a PM. It will fill gaps in your knowledge and expose you to parts of PM you may not be aware of.
  • Start a conversation with decision-makers within your company and let them know it's your goal, even if you're not ready to make the transition.
  • Shadow the product team.
