When someone needs your help, be compassionate and give them a hand, whenever possible. If you cannot help them, connect them with someone who can.
Daily life is full of opportunities to do this. If you do someone a favor, don’t hold it over their head, and don’t expect something in return. Do what is right, because it is right, and that’s it.

Don't use phrases like “Can you do me a favor? ", because they are manipulative - they force someone to commit before you tell them what it is you need. A simple “Can you help me with [specific thing]?” will do.
Successful managers don’t preempt every obstacle a team member encounters but watch and listen, looking for the right time to pitch in. If someone is already stuck in the challenge, first-hand, they are engaged enough to take the advice in a positive manner.
