Developing your nonprofit's key marketing message

Key messages exist so that people will have a consensus understanding of what your organization does. It provides two things: context to your mission and vision, and call to actions you want your audience to do.

In constructing your key message, consider five points:

  1. WHO are the individuals, groups, or communities you're serving?
  2. WHAT service does your organization do for them?
  3. WHY are you doing this service?
  4. WHERE is your impact focused?
  5. TO WHAT END: what are your expected end results?
