The cycle of "One Day" is the reason I am not at my goal weight, not at the skill level, not at my fill-in-the-blank. One day I will go to the gym, one day I will get my degree, one day I will change to that career track. So start today, you might fail, give yourself grace, and get started that day again! I find that so much about understanding life is about knowing where you stand inside of it. Gaining a perspective will elevate you to a better place. The biggest perspective change I had was with death 💀. Let's think about time as money 💰The reality is, we are withdrawing from our bank account on day 1. Every single day we are just given an allowance. As the bank account gets smaller. When I finally realized this / accepted it. I gained a lot of perspective. I do not want to get to the end of my life to find out that I spent it on all of the wrong things.

Step One - Gaining Some Perspective

So often we make decisions in the MOMENT rather than making decisions ahead of time. I find that we make BETTER decisions ahead of time because we are not going to "cave" or "change our minds".

Step Two - Make the Decision BEFORE the moment

Having a person that knows your goals and will ask you about them spurs you to accomplish them.

Step Three - Get Accountable

Substituting our distractions with other things that improve our life I have found to aid me in motivating me to change what I spend my time on. The biggest change I made by far was switching all of my social media to LinkedIn. I find that there is a community of people building, inspiring, growing, and supporting others. Joining that during my "downtime" really helped me to start pushing myself.

Step Four - Replace Distractions

People make all of the difference in our life. From what we do or do not do. To what we believe we can or can not accomplish. Find a community of people that inspire you, challenge you, elevate you. Then make sure you be that to someone else one day 😊

Final Thought - Get a Community

The "One Day" cycle is a dangerous lie that we tell ourselves. It's a lie that we can wake up from 10 years later and realize we never really did anything that we really wanted to.

Steps for being a Game Changer

As you go through your day, various ideas pop into your head. If they’re solid, holding onto them doesn’t do you any good. Get them out of your head as soon as you can, for two reasons.

Have ideas, but don’t hold onto them

First, it’s a waste of head space to hold onto them. Toss your ideas into <a href="https://www.mickmel.com/whats-your-system-for-disposable-notes/">your disposable notes system</a>, and then ideally into your long-term <a href="https://www.mickmel.com/do-you-really-trust-your-system/">trusted</a> system. As David Allen says, “your mind is for having ideas, not holding them”. Record them, share them, use them.

Head space

Second, no one is going to steal your idea. It can be scary to share a great idea because you’re worried someone might take it, but that’s almost certainly not going to happen.

If you have an idea that you think is the greatest idea the world has ever heard, chances are, so has someone else. The difference that makes the difference is if you can actually carry it out and put it into existence. Raise your hand if you’ve actually stopped what you are doing to create a new business from someone else’s idea. No? It’s because starting a business takes an enormous amount of time and resources. People don’t just drop what they’re doing to steal your idea, and even if they did – they won’t do it the same way you would.

Bringing a product to market takes a huge investment of time, energy and money. This means that if a person wanted to capitalize on your idea, they would need to stop current endeavors and refocus their life on this new task. It is highly unlikely that the person you are sharing your idea with would want to do that. Also the type of person that would completely change their life course on a whim, probably lacks the focus necessary for executing the idea in the first place.

Don’t worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you’ll have to ram them down people’s throats.

Get your ideas out there. Share your viewpoints, share your goals, share your thoughts on that great product you’ve been dreaming of. Getting helpful feedback is crucial to developing any idea you have, whether it’s a business concept or a new widget you want to build, so take it out of your head and see where it goes.

I watched this TED Talk by Angela Duckworth about the secret recipe of success of people. Her research did confirm as what conventional wisdom said, 'good attitude and stay focus is the way for you to grow.'

“Success is never final; failure is never fatal. It’s courage that counts.”

<ol><li>Grit is about maintaining the same top-level goal for a very long time.</li><li>GRIT has four psychological assets: (1) interest (2) practice (3) purpose (4) hope.</li><li>Gritty people perform more deliberate practice and experience more flow.</li><li>For paragons of grit, the long days and evenings of toil, the setbacks and disappointments, and struggle, the sacrifice—all this is worth it because, ultimately, their efforts pay dividends to other people.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Often, the critical gritty-or-not decisions we make are a matter of identity more than anything else.</li></ol>

5 Main Ideas

The concept of GRIT can be explained in terms of perseverance. Only perseverance will lead to high achievement. A high achiever never believes that they will ever reach their goals, they are always striving more, and are the exact opposite of complacent, constantly unsatisfied. But in a weird way, being unsatisfied and constantly chasing more is satisfying to them. Someone with true grit has enduring passion, they push through pain and frustration, giving up is simply not an option for them."A combination of passion and perseverance makes high achievers special. Society places a huge amount of emphasis on talent, a natural ability. The author questions why talent is always perceived as the hero, and that talent is the only reason we ever have good results.The idea that high achievers have some miraculous skill is more appealing than the fact that we are simply average and don’t put in enough effort. This magical skill that someone might hold means we simply don’t need to consider ourselves in the same league as them, therefore there is no reason to compare ourselves.

Finding this passion is in most cases a process of discovery, followed by a lengthier period of interest development, cultivation, and refinement. What separates the grittiest from the rest is their capacity to stick at interests for the long term, identifying nuances that keep them interested and exploring their passion at a deeper level.Seminal research by Anders Ericsson (the 10,000-hour rule) suggests that what separates experts is not just the rate at which they practice at an early stage, but the way in which they practice.
