What is Job Satisfaction and Why is it Important?

Critical systems must be both safe from inadvertent harm and secure from malicious actors. However, safety and security practices have historically evolved in isolation. Safety-critical systems, such as aircraft and medical devices, have long been analyzed for problems that could arise accidentally or from component degradation.They have been considered standalone systems, however, that were impervious to security issues because they had no networking capabilities.&nbsp;

Security Of Critical Systems

Modern critical systems, such as the CH-47F Chinook, TARDEC Autonomous Truck, and Little Bird, must be shown to be both safe and secure, but this is proving challenging as they are also increasingly complex. Indeed, the pace and scale of development of these systems make the traditional safety and security analyses cost-prohibitive.&nbsp;At the SEI, we are developing software and processes that use a system’s architecture as the starting point for assessing and improving safety and security.&nbsp;

Modern Critical Systems

The SEI is developing an integrated approach to safety and security engineering, supported by an AADL-based workbench.This approach:<ul><li>Unifies safety and security analysis through a formalized taxonomy that is used to drive system verification via fault injection and simulation</li><li>Provides a design framework to combine safety and security mechanisms into a robust and resilient system architecture through continuous analytic verification.</li><li>Ensures traceability by linking machine-readable requirements to the tests that verify them and the system elements that implement them.</li></ul>

An Integrated Solution

As we continue our research into the integration of safety and security engineering for mission-critical systems, we are investigating the following questions: Near-term—What assumptions underlying technologies that support increasing levels of autonomy (i.e., machine learning [ML], artificial intelligence [AI]) can we describe using AADL?&nbsp;Mid-term—How can models be used at runtime? What are the connections between static, design-time models and dynamic models used while a system is operating?Long-term—To what extent can we use ML/AI to help develop models rather than the other way around?

Integrating Safety and Security Engineering for Mission-Critical Systems

Define your KPIs (e.g. increase CTR, Conversion Rate or Avg. Position) and set automated email for each bucket. For example, on Monday you can receive an email with the worst campaigns/ad groups with lower CTR on Bucket A. The next day you will focus on the next Bucket and so on.Use the following rule: Check Campaign/Ad Group’s CTR is Lower than average with +/-5% of total Impression

Improve Campaigns/ Ad Groups performance

One thing that is very important on an optimization routine is just making sure that everything is doing what it’s supposed to do.To make sure fluctuations are no more than daily tweaks, set up alerts for yourself to identify any major fluctuations that may indicate a disturbance in performance.

Control your Budget

If you feel comfortable, instead setting just daily emails with “To Do’s” for each bucket, you can start using automated rules to improve your optimization routine. The logic is the same as inthe 1st point of the this list.For this you should define your KPIs and set your rules (always with a email with all the modifications).

As part of your AdWords optimization routine, you should be evaluating search term reports as frequently as humanly possible, but you can very quickly get lost if you dig too deep.Set a limit for yourself to make sure you’re spending time efficiently. If you do find negative keywords, you can add them in the ad group or campaign level.

Search Term Light Report

<ul><li>You should review your Ads at least weekly to make sure the changes you made before are trending in the right direction. While you’re unlikely to have any data with statistical significance every week, you’ll be able to identify how things are going and how long you have to make a decision.</li><li>The same concept goes for Ad Extensions. You should review your sitelinks, callouts &amp; snippets on a weekly basis to make sure there aren’t any surprise disapprovals, since those won’t show up in standard alerts.</li></ul>
