Anyone whoâs ever tried to manage an emotion or thought will have attempted to simply not think about it. But somehow, that never seems to work out. Even if it seems to have positive effects at first, that suppression always comes back to bite you.
By allowing yourself to feel your emotions without suppressing them, you donât have all that bottled-up rage waiting to blow up.
Given their intent, a lot of thought suppressionâs effects are quite ironic. They always seem to make things worse, never better. Facing your feelings and negative thoughts head-on is a much better way to deal with them.
