The Fundamentals Of Observation πŸ›

The Fundamentals Of Observation πŸ›

Observing in simpler terms is gathering the information on what we saw, hear, feal, and the other senses. The basic foundation to mastering this art is using the senses.

  • See - what are the details of the visual being represented?
  • Hear - what am I hearing?
  • Smell - what is it's scent?
  • Taste - what does it taste like?
  • Feel - how does it feel?

Example

Spaggeti

  • See - It looks like noodles with red sauce
  • Hear - nothing lol
  • Smell - it's smells cooked
  • Taste - It taste delicious
  • Feel - it feels like noodles.

(Note; It is okay to not use all the senses, having one sense to observe like seeing is still great at gathering information. Just try to use all the senses that are available, if not, just discard and use it later.)

The Environment

The Environment

The world is filled with distractions, it's presence attract us and baits you from what your doing. Active observation needs no distractions such as phones. It is better to do passive observing than getting distracted.

  • Distraction - leads you away
  • No distraction - nothing gets your attention, and you will be focused

Active Looking & Hearing

These two senses are incredible in observing, obviously the other sense are good in specific areas but these two are the most used. Before we explain active looking and hearing, we need to understand the difference between passive and active.

Passive vs Active

Passive is being reluctant or not being immersed. While active is the participation on the concept given. For the topic of observation, I will show examples:

  • Passive - not looking as much to gather the information or not fully engaged with interacting with the visual.
  • Active - engaging with the given or staring at the object seen

Activeness In Observing

Actively looking is watching the thing and gathering all the info from it while active listening is the same except it's in the ear. By doing this you will gather the most information about a subject, topic, or any concept.

Intuition

Intuition

The tool we have that seperates us humans from animals is our intuition. It is the subconscious, this is also known as second-nature. In the topic of observation, it is asking details and using what you gathered to interact with the info at hand.

Intuition

This is the device we have to use and apply the information and gather all the details from our senses. Asking questions for your brain to answer is important in the realm of observation.

Example: You ask your brain what is the color of the object? What sounds is it making? What is it doing?
