Creativity is taking what's already present and connecting them in ways that haven't been done previously.
- Research suggests both creativity and non-creativity are learned. Some people are more primed than others to be creative but nearly every person is born with some level of creativity and majority of creative thinking abilities are trainable.
- "I'm just not the creative type" doesn't truly exist.
- The creative process:
- Gather new material.
- Look at the facts from different angle trying to fit various ideas together.
- Do something totally unrelated that excites & energizes you.
- Let the idea return to you.
- Shape & develop the idea based on feedback.

How to find your creative genius
- HOW TO BE CREATIVE:
- Give yourself permission to create junk. It's like being the gold miner - sifting through dirt to find a speck of gold.
- Create on a schedule. Create consistently. Genius arrives when you show up enough times to get the average ideas out of the way.
- Finish something. Stop trying to make things perfect at first go. Just do the work. You don’t need to set the world on fire with your first try. No one became great by half-finishing their work.
- Stop judging your own work. It's natural to judge & feel dissapointed in your own work. Practice enough self-compassion to not let self-judgement take over. Don’t let judgment prevent delivery.
- Hold yourself accountable to creating your best work. Work on the feedback you receive. What seems simple to you is often brilliant to someone else.
- Inspiration only reveals itself after perspiration. Do the work, finish something, get feedback, find ways to improve, show up again tomorrow, repeat.
