Happiness Comes from Solving Problems

Happiness Comes from Solving Problems

  • Problems are a constant in life
  • They never stop; problems purely get exchanged and/or upgraded
  • For Example: You solve your health problem by buying a gym membership; you create new problems; like sweating, then getting showered for work so you don't stink
  • If you avoid or feel like you don't have problems - you're going to make yourself miserable
  • To be happy we need something to solve; Happiness is a form of action, activity - finally making enough money to buy more stuff doesn't make you happy
  • Happiness is a constant work-in-progress

The solutions to today's problems will lay the foundation for tomorrow's problems. True happiness is when you find the problems you enjoy having and enjoy solving.

Some people f*** things up in this two ways

Some people f*** things up in this two ways

For many people solving problems doesn't feel that simple. They f*** up things up in at least one of two ways:

  1. Denial - denying reality or constanlty distracting themselves from reality
  2. Victim Mentality - believing that they can do nothing to solve their problems; blaming others for their problems or blaming the outside circumstances
  • This people deny and blame others for their problems, because it's easy and feels good - while solving problems is hard and often feels bad

Blame and Denial gives you a quick high

Blame and Denial gives you a quick high

  • They are a way to temporarily escape our problems - makes you feel better
  • Highs have many forms: alcohol, moral righteousness, blaming others
  • Highs are superficial and unproductive
  • You can get addicted by being constantly high - you rely on them to feel better about your underlying problems; the more you will seek them out
  • But the longer you avoid your problems, the more painful it will be when you do confront your problems
