Expectation gaps

Unhappiness results when expectations don't meet reality. These gaps where reality lags behind from expectation are called exectation gaps. Expectation gaps can be classified in 3 types-

  1. Imagination gaps- Ex- You are finding hotels to go into, and places to visit. Now you imagine that the places are gonna be awesme and clean. The next day you go there and see litter everywhere. Your imagination lagged behind reality.
  2. Interpersonal gaps= Other's reality vs your reality. Like arents tell that kid, you can be in NASA too. But the kid doesn't become that in future. What happened?

He became unhappy because his parents' reality didn't meet his reality. Stop telling them they are special. You'll be disappointed also when other get a high payise, while you get relatively low.

3. Intertemporal gaps= past reality>present reality- Person A has 10,000 and after aome years it comes to 5000 but person B has 1000, after those years it becomes 5000. Both have come to the same point but who do you think will be more unhappy? When we give kids everything, literally everything, kids lose the ability to manage these intertemporal gaps. We deduct the ability to improve day by day.
