"Salamat" , a Filipino word for 'Thank you' doesn't actually mean 'thank you' as what most Filipinos believe.
"Salamat" came from the Arabic word salam or salama (plural: salamat) which means 'good health' and is used to wish someone peace and blessings as in the Muslim standard greeting "As salaam alaikum" which means 'Peace be be unto you'and the corresponding response "Wa alaikum salaam," meaning 'and unto you, peace'; the Indonesian's "selamat detang" and "selamat pagi" meaning 'Welcome' and 'Good morning' respectively with the word "selamat" roughly translating to 'happy, peaceful or safe'
