The 5 stages of grief were first introduced in the late 60s by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross by publishing "On Death and Dying". Kübler summarized that there are typically 5 stages of grief that come after a death or in terminally ill patients. The 5 stages of grief as Kübler examined were: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
