  • High disengagers have a flexible moral compass. They dissociate transgressive behaviours with morality when it is convenient.

Researchers found that morally flexible participants (high disengagers) are more likely to cheat on their partners. When they experience regulatory fit (it feels right), they are even more likely to cheat.

Those with a strong moral compass (low disengagers) were less likely to cheat. They're even less likely to do wrong when they are under regulatory fit.
