What is never considered business casual attire

There are some types of clothing that even the most casual of dress codes probably won’t work.

• Yoga or gym clothes. The same goes for tracksuits and athleisure wear.
• Tank tops are not appropriate for work unless worn under a jacket or sweater.
• Graphic T-shirts. Leave the Motörhead, Star Wars, or sports team gear for the weekend.
• Nightclub attire. If you wouldn’t wear it to brunch with grandma, then it’s probably not business casual.
• Shorts.
• Flip flops.

• Take a cue from the type of workplace you’re stepping into.
• Consider what type of company it is. For example, a law or financial services firm might be more formal, while a marketing or tech startup may lean toward the business casual end.
