And I discussed how to learn new skills from someone you admire and skip a few of the challenges you would have had to solve otherwise. Yet learning from the best is only a part of the experience. And most times, you will have to learn a few life lessons from your mistakes. But how can you effectively learn from your errors?

How to Learn from Every Experience

A few years ago, I was in a long-term relationship that was born during high school. But I wasn’t happy – I was comfortable.We didn’t have the same passions anymore. We didn’t enjoy the same things, nor liked how the other was perceiving life. But, instead of closing the relationship, we clung to it for many years until it became unbearable. And when she left, I didn’t know who I was anymore.For the first few weeks, I couldn’t bear the pain. But I soon realized I was a blank page and I could decide who I was and how I was supposed to live.

My life-changing mistake.

My breakup transformed me into a self-improvement geek. And from then, I fell in love with my growth path. But you don’t need life-changing events to learn a life lesson. Sometimes, all you need is a moment of self-reflection, and things like a breakup can force you to have them.

Mistakes don’t have to be critical.

1 – HonestyHonesty is one of the prerequisites you need. Without honesty, you won’t identify the problems that keep you from improving and won’t reach any conclusion.

Then, you need a self-reflection moment. And remember that you could change everything.I lost most of our friends when I broke up with my girlfriend. But I don't blame them for choosing her. Usually, I wasn't the one keeping the relationships alive. But I started to have trust issues.I thought I was the problem and didn’t know how to make new friends. Yet, if you focus on yourself and your skills, you will notice life is full of opportunities.

3 – Possible solutionsOnce you know the problems, you can list the possible solutions. Not all of them will work, of course. But you will find one that will, eventually. So you can try them out and see which one has better effects.Also, when you know your problems, your mind will search for solutions passively. So be honest and make a list of real issues. Otherwise, you will search for generic and useless patches you don’t even need.

3 – Possible solutions

The mindset is the hardest thing to change, but it has to go.If there is a problem in your life, a part of your mindset has to switch, or you will never fix it. And most times, the part that needs a change deals with the comfort zone.So let’s use a rule that will make your life lessons easier: never say No unless you have proven facts of the negative impact of the change.

During a robbery in Zimbabwe, the bank robber shouted to everyone in the bank: "Don't move. The money belongs to the State. Your life belongs to you." Everyone in the bank lay down quietly. This is called the "Mind Changing Concept” Changing the conventional way of thinking.

Our mind is an amazing organ. It took me a long time to get used to embracing fear. It wasn't easy but worth it. (Quite similar to how habits are being formed.) No. I'm NOT 100% fearless. We don't have to be. Fear is protective and we need this too. 😌 So here's how it works for me:Anytime I needed courage, mentally I start thinking through processes in baby steps. 🪜 Eg Like research, focus groups, switching on awareness so that I start paying more attention. It's like guiding yourself step by step. And then into action. ☝️Most importantly give yourself time.

If you think you're slower, that's ok. Just start more often and start prepping earlier. Even getting mentally prepped of what's to come in a logical manner helps your guts. + It will help you soothe that irrational emotional fear Don't let irrational fear stop you. Align with what? The inner and external agreement with yourself. In the simplest terms: You say what you think and do what you say.

I had an interesting meeting with someone (X) who wants to Branding. It got me baffled because when I found out that 'X' is doing very well monetarily, it got me thinking. What are you lacking that you need more? I checked everything. From presence to materials. Most basics are up. But they are not working WHY? Then it struck me: There is a lack of direction/confusion. 🙈When we get too rich and go nowhere It's a warning sign.Because when you're misaligned or bluntly put: confused The shit's bound to come 🫴
