Shorter men live longer

Shorter men live longer

According to a study on the height, weight, and age at death of 373 men, obtained from records at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, San Diego, CA, USA:

  • Men of height 175.3 cm or less lived an average of 4.95 years longer than those of height over 175.3 cm.
  • Men of height 170.2 cm or less lived 7.46 years longer than those of at least 182.9 cm.

It's science.

Less heavy men, again, live longer

Less heavy men, again, live longer

An analysis by weight difference revealed a 7.72-year greater longevity for men of weight 63.6 kg or less compared with those of 90.9 kg or more.

This probably has more implications (eg. diabetes and other serious problems like blood pressure), but overall, weight is again a big factor in longevity.

Tall does not mean healthy

Tall does not mean healthy

This corroborates earlier evidence and contradicts the popular notion that taller people are healthier.

While short stature due to malnutrition or illness is undesirable, our study suggests that feeding children for maximum growth and physical development may not add to and may indeed be harmful to their long-term health and longevity.

CURATOR'S NOTE

Found this study while looking for other things. To be honest, I didn't actually see this as logical at first, but the tallest person in the world, lived only to 22. And one of the most tall folks that ever lived, could barely walk past a threshold. I'm 1.89, so I guess I'll live quite a few years less than most of you brilliant but shorter f**kers our there :-)

This app is LOADED with RELEVANT, HELPFUL, AND EDUCATIONAL material. It is creatively intellectual, yet minimal enough to not overstimulate and create a learning block. I am exceptionally impressed with this app!
