The quest for acceptance is human nature. Some people try to conform because they fear rejection, this can be traced back to cave times where, when you get separated from the flock it means death - due to the difficulty of surviving alone.

Extreme conformity is poison dressed as wine. It makes other people like you but you end up not liking yourself .

1. Ask yourself "What are my values?"
2. Understand your personality. Are you an Introvert? Extrovert? Ambivert? What are your strengths and weaknesses? etc.
3. Explore your interests. What do you love to do? Is there a habit you haven't done in a long time? What do you wanna try? etc.
4. Be Honest with yourself. Be honest about who you are, what you wanna do, where you wanna go; how you wanna do it acknowledging when you're wrong etc.
5. Set boundaries. When you find who you are, you need to decide what you're going to allow and not, who you hang out with, etc. Protect your sense of self.
