Structure the message: what?, so what?, now what?

<ul><li>It's a great way to signal you have been listening</li><li>It's a lower-order cognitive skill - it can be used to buy yourself time to think about an answer</li><li class="ql-indent-1">It can be used to move the conversation forward: paraphrase what's been said and link it to the next topic</li></ul>

Leverage paraphrasing

<ul><li>Information: what do you want them to know?</li><li>Emotion: how do you want them to feel?</li><li>Action: what do you want them to do?</li></ul> Having a clear goal also helps to measure how successfully you communicated your point.
