1. Stay engaged - keep lines of communication open with regular, consistent, weekly 1:1s.2. We have a tendency to want to work with friends, but it turns out that this inhibits creativity. We need new people in the team as well.It is unlikely that a team that has worked together for a long time will come up with something really original. So add some diversity. If you want your team to be agile and innovative then do not recruit new players who will ‘fit in’; choose people who will challenge the group’s thinking.

Going outside when you first wake up for about 2-10 minutes as well as in the evening for a few minutes will greatly improve sleep, mood, and energy as well as other things.<ul><li>This is because the light (or lack of it) acts as cues to your body, telling it that this is the time to be awake (achieved due to the effect of the sun), and in the evening, that this is the time to settle down</li></ul>-is also the case when inside your home. You should be increasing your exposure to (natural) light in the morning, but in the evening you should be decreasing light exposure(including the blue light from our devices)

Improving Sleep

Huberman notes many simple (but effective) ways of reducing/ preventing feelings of stress in our daily lives. These include:<ul><li>Expanding vison: This method can be used wherever you are and involves consciously increasing your field of vision so you are using your peripheral vision instead of being focused on a small area</li><li>Double Breathing: Double breathing is achieved by inhaling deeply through the nose and then quickly following that with a second short and sharp inhale (without exhaling). Then a long exhale.</li></ul>This alone has been proven to greatly reduce stress even after the first breath

Reducing Stress

Hydration plays a very important role in maintaining a high-functioning brain and body. Ensuring you are sufficiently hydrated throughout the day is the first step, however, Huberman mentions a hydration strategy for performing physically or mentally taxing work at a high standard. here it is:<ul><li>Your body weight (in pounds) divided by 30 is the amount of water (in ounces) you should drink about every 20 mins when performing physical/ mental tasks.</li></ul>

Researchers here wanted to determine if intermittent fasting might spur hippocampal neurogenesis  and improve the memory performance of lab mice.<ul><li>A control group of mice who were treated and fed as always</li><li>A calorie-restricted group (CR), for which daily food intake was reduced by 10%</li><li>An intermittent fasting group (IF), for which food was similarly reduced, but that were fed only every other day during the study.</li></ul>results-The study found that the intermittent fasting group had "improved long-term memory retention compared to the other groups."

FOMO, or the fear of missing out on experiences we deem worthwhile, may make people feel they aren’t living their lives as fully as their counterparts are. Surprisingly, social media doesn’t seem to directly cause this phenomenon: Research has <a href="https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/0265407520945394">shown</a> that people with no social media presence experience FOMO to the same degree as any social media-addicted person would.  If people’s basic psychological needs aren’t met, they are more likely to experience what is now called FOMO.

The Fear Of Missing Out

Those with an unchecked ego, identity and codependency issues, and major insecurities are <a href="http://irep.ntu.ac.uk/id/eprint/34817/1/Sarah_Buglass_2018.pdf">more vulnerable</a> to FOMO. If someone lacked a healthy relationship with at least one caregiver growing up, they may participate in toxic attention-seeking that can lead to FOMO if not reciprocated. A lack of satisfaction with one’s life can also induce these feelings.  When a person is dissatisfied with their life, they run the risk of developing FOMO, as they heedlessly look for ways to make life more satisfying.

Individual Susceptibility  

Seeking out instant gratification can trigger FOMO. Reaching true contentment, meanwhile, can take plenty of effort — particularly for those who have faced significant trauma. We look for instant gratification because we are trying to avoid discomfort of any kind. We are often taught that this is an acceptable or viable approach as children, but instant gratification that involves distracting or numbing ourselves to our discomfort in the moment can have significant consequences like addiction and dependence.

The Problem With Instant Gratification

When FOMO involves distressing emotions, the stress and limbic systems are activated — namely, the amygdala and the hypothalamus.  Social exclusion itself profoundly activates the amygdala and hypothalamus; they are one of the most robust stressors we experience.Our brains may pull memory files that resurface the painful psychological responses we experienced after missing out on activities we considered pleasurable. This distress modifies the memory system and creates negative memories and emotional states, a process that involves the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus.

FOMO Inside the Brain

While FOMO is usually viewed as harmful, could it ever be considered a good thing? It depends on what you do with it.The feeling can even serve as a powerful motivator when people start listening to it thoughtfully and map out the approach to realistically achieve their goals.<ul><li>You can even view FOMO as a source of ideas and inspiration.</li><li>Your core impulse is centered on improving your condition when you feel FOMO. </li><li>Fundamentally, FOMO is aspirational in nature, rooted in a search for whatever’s bigger, better and brighter than your current surroundings.</li></ul>
