Notes from You're A Badass according to my understanding
This is a twitter thread by Ankur Warikoo. I myself am in my 20s and have felt these things. And after reading this thread made me think differently about my life. It will help you guys.
“How are things?” asked a friend. “It’s busy, but I’ll take some time to relax when things ease up,” I replied. I recently caught myself giving a variation of this answer every time I was asked how I was doing. “So much work, but hopefully it will be better next week.” Being busy all the time can give us an illusion of productivity which may feel reassuring, but isn’t there a risk we are too busy to enjoy life?
As much as we wish for each day to be different, the cycle of repeating the same actions day after day is pretty common. Habits and routines are an important part of our lives. Making your bed in the morning, that first cup of coffee, grabbing a croissant on your way to work, listening to your favourite podcast on the train. And while we tend to use the words “habit” and “routine” interchangeably, they both mean two distinct things. Understanding their definitions can help you design good routines and build good habits.
FOMO, or fear of missing out. It’s especially prevalent among people who spend quite a bit of time online. With the ability to easily see what everyone is doing all the time comes the curse of knowing exactly what we may be missing out on. Associated with a fear of regret, FOMO is the apprehension that others might be having rewarding experiences from which you are absent.
You can have the best tools and strategies, but if you don’t have the right mind frame, things are not going to work.
It is not necessary to read scientific or business literature to learn new things. Movies also provide excellent food for thought and I manage to find answers to my questions in unexpected places.
