Logotherapy:

This is the soul to live to find a flow, a flow is where there is no future, there is no past and only there is only present. You are dissolved into the experience, with no thinking, no distraction. Your ego dissolves and you become part of what you are doing. How to identify the state of flow, how to discover the flow? They shared interesting stories of Steve Jobs’ Japan visit which brought light to small details and facts and got to know Jobs.

Flow:

A great focus is given to keeping the body in action in various sections of the book, still, a small chapter is added with different techniques and benefits of tai chi, yoga, radio taiso, qigong, and breathing techniques.

Chapter Overview

This was one of the golden nuggets explained over the last few pages. As everyone discovers their ikigai and follows passion no matter what. As they never give up on passion and in case things go wrong then how do you build the ability to persevere and live life and not just keep doing urgent things? I am glad that I read the book till the end and see deep insight into resilience.

What I Liked Particularly:

There is nothing Specific that I won't like, but I found that sometimes some chapters/ points may feel a bit, off route but in the end it makes sense.

Taking an idea from the brainstorming stage to product development and into launch can be difficult. It is crucial to create a risk management plan for your small business.The first thing you'll need to calculate is the cost to launch, including your marketing and sales plan. Solidifying concrete numbers will give you a solid foundation to work from.

Laying the foundation for your risk management plan

Your business plan is your guide. It should be highly detailed with information on all aspects of the business, including an industry snapshot, go-to marketing strategies, finance, personnel and other various operating procedures.To do this, ask yourself the following questions: What is the current state of the market for this type of product (think supply and demand)? What is our ideal customer profile? How do competitors fit into the landscape? How are we different? What is our profit margin and how do we plan to pay off debts? Do we have the proper contracts in place?

1. Account for risk in your business plan

You do not need a huge collection; you need a pain point and a solution. According to research from CBInsights, startups fail most often due to two reasons: failure to verify market needs and not spending money wisely.It can be easy to get caught up in size and scale, but consumers are looking for quality authenticity and a compelling brand story. Focus on these things first. A quick way to run your brand into the ground is sprinting too fast out of the gate with no clear direction. Find your place in the market and develop one really good product first, and the rest will follow.

2. Establish your place in the market before you scale

Make sure your manufacturer has capabilities that fit your needs, from the size of the facility to quality and speed. You do not want your initial brand launch to turn out the way Jaclyn Cosmetics did in 2019 when its highly anticipated makeup products were found filled with mold, hair and bubbles.The reason for this error? The fibers from the cleaning towels were left in a big tub where the lipsticks were mixed. Although this was not the fault of the brand, it took the hit and its reputation never recovered.

3. Find a manufacturer that can help you scale your minimum order quantity

Gathering feedback on the performance of a product does not have to be expensive, nor does it have to be a huge undertaking. To gauge consumer interest, test your product on the market. This could look like doing a soft product launch on your website, or utilizing more general third-party selling platforms. Rather than purchasing 500 units, put 50 of each SKU and measure product performance based on key KPIs.Once your product is out, pay close attention to customer reviews. Criticism is not necessarily fun but take it to heart and respond accordingly.

Mitigate the Risk of Business Failure With These 4 Strategies

There are many different approaches to making content and I'm very often asked “How do you create content that is popular, that will be popular?” And I don’t think that’s a very good question to start with. In fact I think you should ask yourself first and foremost “Why do you create content?” So, there are many potential answers to this. What I would consider a bad answer is “to get likes and favorites and subscribers”. That is an intermediate step and you can get trapped in what I would consider, and other people like Eric Reese might call, vanity metrics.

Ask Yourself This, First And Foremost

With vanity metrics you’re chasing metrics because they’re highly coveted by many people, which is only looking at the symptoms of potential success, i.e. the likes and so on, but not looking at the ultimate objective. So what might a good objective be? A good objective might be “I’m creating content to determine or hone in on, specifically target, my 1000 true fans”. (If you read one article on content creation or marketing I would make it “1000 True Fans” by Kevin Kelly.)

The “Vanity Metrics”

The die-hard fans are those whose behaviors, beliefs, likes, dislikes, I understand because I’m part of that market. Whatever niche it is, even if it’s a one in a million niche, that can still be a sizable audience. So I want to not appeal to all of the readers or listeners in the world, but instead I want to actively call and filter my audience so that only the people I want to connect with directly actually wade through.

The “Die-hard Fans”

These are very real, tangible, measurable outcomes and I would encourage you to think about what you want to do with your content, what do you want to achieve beyond what we would consider vanity metrics. And there are some vanity metrics that can be converted into dollars. If you’re an Instagram celebrity or you are interested in becoming one, you know that if you have a million plus subscribers, or you have a few million, that you can earn 50 to $70,000 per promoted post. OK, that is an objective. It’s also an objective dependent on a lot of variables you don’t control.

The Dependent Objectives

I remember talking to someone who had a very successful content-based business built on Facebook. And he said “It’s like having the most profitable McDonald's in the world, built on top of a volcano: you don’t know when it’s going to erupt”.

So my preferences are always: first, clear objective; what you want to achieve, perhaps can be financially driven, that’s fine, I don’t consider fame in and of itself to be a very useful objective and there are a lot of downsides to that. Then, you have identifying your 1000 true fans. And I will tell you right now that if you try to make something that appeals to everyone, if you try to make something that everyone will like, it will be something that no one loves.

Independent Objectives And True Fans 

So you wanna first identify the 1000 diehards; once you have your diehard, true believers, they are your strongest unpaid marketing force. They will then recruit your casual listeners, casual readers, and widen out the concentric circles of your access. So you start with 1000, you end up with a readership of a million or three million or 10 million. And that’s exactly what’s happened with me. And I began in a very narrow narrow niche and then, overtime, as I built a larger readership, expanded topically; but I didn’t begin with a wide variety of topics.

Natural, True Fans Are Natural, True Recruiters

This is a really, really important point: Do you enjoy it? In other words, Do you have a deep attraction to a given format so that you will have the endurance necessary to get through all the trials and tribulations and learning hurdles to build the large audience? If not, choose a different approach, because you will fail.

Do You Like It Enough To Suffer Through It?

Otherwise, with all of this, I encourage you to think about the long game and ask yourself “If I were in this for the long game, if I commit this is not a three-month endeavor, it is at minimum a three-year commitment to mastering this craft, how does that change your decisions and what does the path potentially look like? It doesn’t mean you have to be wedded to a 3 year plan, but it means that at least you are committed to doing this thought exercise of putting it down on paper and checking out what it might look like.

Are You In It For The Long Game?

So if you want to not just create popular content that is ephemeral, that disappears like the flicker of a firefly in the Internet landscape, if you want to convert your efforts into a sustainable career with fans who will take a bullet for you and travel with you wherever you go, you have to think about it differently: do not get caught up in the vanity metrics; and ask yourself “Why?”, ask “So what”, ask “And then what?”, “For what?”, many many many times.

Why? So What? And Then What? For What?

And challenge not only your own assumptions, but the assumptions of other people who give you advice. So feel free to completely disagree with what I say; however, recognize that my beliefs and tenets that I follow are born of many experiments over a long period of time. So if you’re gonna disagree, guess what: those are hypotheses you have to test; and it is through the testing that you will find your own unique path.

How to Create Content That Sustains a Career

“Twitter was originally conceived as a mobile status update service— an easy way to keep in touch with people in your life by sending and receiving short, frequent answers to one question, ‘What’s happening?’The perfect equilibrium of two different ways of looking at the world:"The need to talk about yourself, compared with the need to let people talk about what was happening around them." One could never have existed without the other. That balance, or battle, had created Twitter.

Ev released the diary Web site to the world. He called it Blogger, a word that had not existed until then. He believed it would allow people without any computer-programming knowledge to create a Web log, or blog. He had a vision for Blogger, where anyone could have their own blog, the equivalent of their own online newspaper. “Push-button publishing for the people.” It was Blogger’s motto.Google bought Blogger for Tens of millions of dollars. Ev became famous.

Noah was writing an application called Odeo or audio blogger, that allowed anyone to post voice-based posts to blogs from a phone. As soon as Ev started cashing out his Google stock, Noah asked if he would invest a few thousand dollars to help kick-start the idea. Ev agreed to finance more of the project but only on one condition: that Ev become CEO.

Jack was hired as a freelancer almost immediately and fit into the culture of Odeo seamlessly. He had a hacker mentality, no degree, and a love for programming. The site they had just unintentionally launched hoped to be the Web’s central destination for podcasts. All of this would be completely free. In that brief moment podcasting, which had been the entire company thesis for Odeo, had become a simple add-on for Apple.

Noah was trying desperately to sift ideas out of the employees to save the company. Jack mentioned his “status” concept. In a small snippet of text, people could note if they were available, in a meeting, or just busy, so their online friends knew their whereabouts.  It was about connecting people and making them feel less alone. Noah said Then Apple’s entering the podcasting fray had placed one hundred nails in the Odeo coffin

Noah’s vibrating phone led him to think of the brain impulses that cause a muscle to twitch. So he continued flipping through the tw’s in the dictionary. Twister. Twist tie. Twit. Twitch. Twitcher. Twitchy. Twite. And then, there it was. A verb. Twitter. Twitter. Twittered. Twittering. Twitters. - “The light chirping sound made by certain birds.”

“What are other use cases?” Dom asked. “My mom could use it too,” Jack said, so she could see what he was up to. On March 21, 2006, at 11: 50 A.M., Jack tweeted, “just setting up my twttr,”   “Oh this is going to be addictive,” Dom wrote. “Wishing I had another sammich,” Biz wrote. “Lunch,” Jack typed. “checking out twttr,” Ev said. “Oh man, this twitter tickles my nose,” Jeremy said. And that was it. A spark of life. Tweets.

Noah was also becoming paranoid about Ev. Ev explained Noah . “ I don’t think we can work together well on it.” Ev ordered Noah to resign from Twitter.Noah faced with no other choice and no one in his corner, Noah resigned.

Jack had also made one of the most important decisions for Twitter to date: limiting the length of tweets. “We’re going to standardize this at 140 characters. Ev dictated that Jack would be CEO. Biz, Jack, and Ev would be cofounders. Goldman would be the vice president of product.

There was one person who was not Jack’s biggest fan: Ev. He believed Jack didn’t work hard enough. Wasn’t in the office enough. Was distracted by his hobbies. Jack had also started a new ritual called Tea Time: a weekly event for Twitter staff that was held on a Friday afternoon to discuss the company’s latest news.

A simple status updater( jacks view) in 140-character posts was too ephemeral and egotistical to be sustainable. A news updater(Ev’s view) in 140-character spurts was just a glorified newswire. Though they didn’t realize it, the two together were what made Twitter different.

April 2008 Jack fired Blaine in an attempt to show Ev his control of the company.  Blaine had been the core programmer of Twitter, and without him Jack had no idea how to fix certain issues.  Ev pulling on one end, Jack on the other, Biz trying his best not to get caught in the middle. The board members knew they had to find a new role for Jack or let him go immediately.

Ev took a deep breath and replied. “Yes. I want to be CEO. I have experience running a company, and that’s what Twitter needs right now.” “Jack’s out,” he said. “The board met. This is the final decision. They want me to be CEO, and Jack will become chairman,” Ev was the majority shareholder. Jack was not.  Jack said “This is my company; you can’t take my stock away.” Ev calmly responded: “This isn’t your company. It’s done.”

Jack had another side project too: REVENGE. Unlike Noah, who was doing his best to forget and forgive the betrayal by his friends, Jack ran in the opposite direction, unable to flush the resentment he felt toward Ev, the board, and now Biz too, out of his mind. Each time he read an article where Jack Dorsey wasn’t acknowledged as the creator of Twitter, his blood temperature rose a degree. Ego affected them all: Noah, Jack, Ev, and Biz. They were all driven by it.
