Confidence is a broad topic. There are numerous tips, tricks, hacks about being confident or look confident. But being confident internally can help you the most in the long run.

How to be confident internally

Confidence isn’t saying, 'I know they will like me.' It's saying, 'I'll be fine even if they don't.

Be honest with yourself. Don't lie, try to evaluate your weakness and strengths. It can help you in the long run as you will know your weakness and try to work on that.

Work and invest on you

We all know that there is no growth in the comfort zone. So, if you are not okay with the possibility of failing, embarrassing yourself, you will never take new opportunities. And then there is no way for you to get better at anything. And if you are not getting better at anything, you are most likely not going to be confident in real sense.

Don't measure your confidence with external standards like your looks,clothes, etc. Real confidence always comes from inside.

How I Became Confident (My Advice)

When you go to the restaurant you always have a choice: eating something, you know is pretty good (exploit), or try something else which might be even better (explore)?The human logic mostly favour's picking up the thing you know is good or you like but this doesn’t mean you should never try new dishes.Even micro-decisions like whether to drive home the usual way during your commute, or take a new route are a version of the explore-exploit problem.

<ul><li>One option is to make the decision you know is best, given the information available (exploit), but you should add some randomness to it, so to try something new (explore).</li><li>Another option is to deliberately explore when you’ll have more time. In experiments, people are more likely to explore new options when they think they’ll have more time to act. </li><li>The third option is to gather information from outside of our personal experience to get some knowledge of how good the new opportunities are .</li></ul>

Solving The Problem...

Time plays a crucial role in explore/exploit trade-offs.If you have much more time to take advantage of new situations, you will have more likely to explore new things. But If time is limited, you will stick to the things you know the best.For instance, children are the ultimate explorers. They’ll try things they’re bad at. In contrast, as we get older, we orient our lives around known rewards.

Age V/S Exploration

Being exposed to a particularly high-value opportunity early can trick our brains. It’s easy to prematurely exploit—choosing big tips at the expense of a better long-term career.Be wary how you judge early successes or failures. Sometimes an early success can be a trap. Don't choose early successes at the cost of loosing your long term goals or passion.

Local Maxima Traps ...

Openess to new experiences seems correlated with exploration. Some people have such traits, while other's go for the safe bet.More ambitious prople will likely to explore more, since their expectations from future rewards are much higher. This helps is turning down great opportunities and gigs.

Ambition V/S Exploration

More exploration isn't always good, having a space for exploration is more important, instead of exploring everytime. Our intuition about when to explore and when to exploit is fairly enough instead of formal analysis of both the options.However, if such decisions are forced by sacrificing today's demands for trying something new, we may end up making wrong decisions.

Cultivating spaciousness itself isn’t easy. If you feel trapped, no platitude will open the world up instantly for you. Instead, you can make small changes that slowly increase the space you have like, improve your finances, health and time management so that constraints which felt overwhelming loosen up a little.

It could be said, I'm a psychonaut. After 35 years of learning about methods of exploring the universe, why, how and when it occurs, I believe it's a title I've earned. It's not all sitting around taking acid and frying your brain. It actually involves very little use of mind altering substances and the kind of indepth learning you would undertake in a top university. It was 30 years of learning and introspection, self evaluation adjustment of values and hard work before I was fully ready to partake of what's known as "the spirit molecule".

Why go to all the effort? Instead tread the path cut by colonialists. With the mighty dollar, trample through the remote Amazonian rain forest, where 80% of the world's biodiversity precariously exists, introducing the countless dangers to a people, ecosystem and culture totally unprepared for it? Without all the years of learning, the possibility of completely losing ones mind, taking powerful halluciogens in an unprepared situation, is entirely understandable.Those isolated tribes that survived rubber tappers, colonialists and loggers face a new threat.

Wealthy westerners seek a short cut to enlightenment, flocking to retreats that make a mockery of the complex spirituality being culturally appropriated. Increasing reports of disappearances and deaths emerge. No mention of the loss of life, from disease, the distancing of a people with their identity and the damage to the delicate balance within the region that is to the Earth, what a heart is to a human.Profiteers allege that it affords the tribes luxuries. Perhaps like giving a starving child a Fabergé egg.Eco tourism of this kind must end.
