With the fingerprint in hand, all we need to do is place it on the scanner.The team at Kraken was able to perform this well-known attack on the majority of devices available with them. Had this been a real attack, they would have had access to a vast range of sensitive information.

A fingerprint should not be considered a secure alternative to a strong password. Doing so leaves your information — and, potentially, your cryptoassets — vulnerable to even the most unsophisticated of attackers. It should be clear by now that, despite being unique to you, your fingerprint can still be exploited with relative ease. At best, you should only consider using it as second-factor authentication (2FA).

To look at whether time travel is possible we need to distinguish between travelling back and travelling forwards. “From a philosophical point of view, we are constantly time travelling! As we age in our ordinary everyday lives, we are forever travelling into the future'.  “The more interesting idea is being able to access a future everyone else is travelling slowly towards. So you move forward without ageing. And that, in theory, is actually perfectly possible,” he says.

Time TRAVEL- A One Way Ticket?

You may have heard of Cryogenics. This is when someone who’s died is frozen instead of being buried or cremated. The theory is they can be “woken up” in the future when we have the technology to bring them back to life. Or a machine or device could be developed so that some people age more slowly than others around them. This way they’d live longer and see a future beyond the average person’s life span.

Going Forward In Time

Another method might involve travelling in a rocket/spaceship at a very high speed, close to the speed of light. “We can’t establish equality with the speed of light but it is possible, in theory, to travel nearly as fast as the speed of light,” adds Dr Steane. So imagine you’re in a spaceship travelling very fast away from the Earth and you stay in orbit for a year. You'd age at the same rate as if you were still on the Earth, by a year, but when you returned, the earth may have aged hundreds of years. “This is way beyond the technology we have at the moment, but in theory, it's possible.”

So we may one day be able to time travel forwards but what about going back?“Here we hit the philosophical problem that always comes up when you discuss travelling back in time,” says Dr Steane. "Suppose you could go back in time and you accidentally killed your grandparents. Wouldn’t that mean you couldn’t exist either?"So how could you go back in time and see people who’ve died - some of them hundreds of years ago?It's very complex.

However, going back in time goes against the laws of physics- some processes are reversible and some irreversible.Processes like an avalanche can’t unhappen. Likewise, on a smaller scale, if you drop an egg, you can’t unbreak it.A spinning top or a pendulum, is reversible because it keeps moving, repeating itself. Nothing really happens. “Within physics, we’re very aware of these issues. The world is irreversible. And so are our lives. We grow, we age, we die,” says Dr Steane.You can’t reverse the effects of a catastrophic event. And that’s why going back in time is not likely to be possible.

If you’re feeling disappointed that we can’t literally travel back in time then remember there’s nowhere you can’t go in your own mind.Think about history lessons where you’re asked to imagine yourself in someone else’s shoes from long ago or when you look at old photos of fun times. That’s time travel. And what about when you read a book or listen to a story told by a grandparent?You can transport yourself to anywhere back in time and the beauty is you can come back. Since isn’t the greatest fear of time travelling getting stuck in a different time zone and never being able to return?

This means AR, more than any form of media to date, has the potential to alter our sense of reality, distorting how we interpret our direct daily experiences.

Houses of tomorrow: A more hopeful vision of domesticity, or a dystopian nightmare?In the future, will we find a better way to live, or will our homes be taken over by surveillance and despotic appliances?Imagine, if you can, a small, bluish room. Wires, screens, sensors. A few keepsakes from the old world. The room’s fleshy inhabitant, confined indoors by a zoonotic pandemic, greenwashes a data-mining company from her bed. The government has made it illegal for her to step outside.

A better way to live...

There is a communal kitchen down the corridor, which she shares with a few strangers she met online, but mostly she orders her meals via an interface and eats them here. Microphones record her interactions. A motion sensor on her wrist reminds her to optimise her performance. Filled with saudade for the dying world outside, she has bought a few rainforest plants to brighten the space. Her pocket surveillance device reminds her to water them. She catches the news: the world’s richest man has just left the Earth’s atmosphere.

... or a dystopian nightmare?

So much for the home of 2021! What about the home of 2050? Might it offer a more hopeful vision of domesticity than the dystopian nightmare some of us have been living through these past couple of years? Or are we inexorably sliding into a world of surveillance and atomisation, climate crisis and housing crisis, drowning alone as our meta headsets suck the very data from our souls?

Maybe a bit of both, says Sarah Douglas, director of the Liminal Space. She is behind the forthcoming Tomorrow’s Home exhibition at the Museum of the Home in east London, which imagines how we’ll be living three decades hence. “The home of the future could help us flourish in ever more tailored and sophisticated ways,” she says. “But it will be messy as we learn to navigate the huge benefits and ethical questions that new interactive technologies bring.”....

Initially, Java was the official language for Android App Development, and as a result, it is the most commonly used language. Java is used to build many of the apps in the Play Store, and it is also Google’s oldest approved language. In addition to all of this, Java offers a fantastic online community for help in the event of a disruption. However, Java is a difficult language for a newcomer to learn since it includes sophisticated issues such as constructors, null port exceptions, parallelism, checked exceptions, and so on.

The Android Native Development Kit (NDK) can be used to develop Android apps using C++. The NDK is used to implement parts of the app in C++ native code, as an app cannot be constructed solely using C++. This aids in the use of C++ code libraries for the program as needed. While C++ can be beneficial for Android App Development in some circumstances, it is far more complicated to set up and far less versatile. Because of the increasing complexity, it may also result in additional bugs.

Because C# is so comparable to Java, it is great for developing Android apps. C#, like Java, employs trash collection to reduce the likelihood of buffer overflows. Furthermore, C# has a crisper and clearer syntax than Java, making it easier to code with.

Even though Android does not enable native Python programming, Python may be used to create Android apps. This may be accomplished using a variety of tools that transform Python programs into Android Packages that can be executed on Android smartphones. Kivy, an open-source Python library used for constructing mobile apps, is an example of this. It supports Android and fosters speedy app creation. Unfortunately, because Kivy isn’t natively supported, there will be no native benefits for it.

In the digital era, everything seems to be a single click away, it’s easy to forget that we have long had physical relationships with the pieces of culture we consume. We store books on bookshelves, mount art on our living-room walls, and keep stacks of vinyl records. When we want to experience something, we seek it out, finding a book by its spine, pulling an album from its case, or opening an app. The way we interact with something, where we store it , also changes the way we consume it, as Spotify’s update made me realize. Where we store something can even outweigh the way we consume it.

Digital Era

In 1931, the German cultural critic Walter Benjamin wrote an essay called “Unpacking My Library,” describing these relationships with cultural objects. In the essay, Benjamin narrates removing his book collection from dusty crates, untouched for years. The volumes are splayed loose on the floor, “not yet touched by the mild boredom of order,” all set to be rearranged on shelves once more. For Benjamin, the very possession of these books formed his identity as a reader, writer, and human being — even if he hadn’t read all of them.

They sat proudly on his shelves as symbols, representing the knowledge that he still aspired to gain or the cities he had traveled, where he encountered a book in a previously unknown shop. Collecting books was his way of interacting with the world, of building a worldview. Benjamin’s library was a personal monument, the same kind that we all construct of things we like or identify with. Its importance was dependent on permanence — collections are made up of things that we own, that don’t go away unless we decide they should.

“Ownership is the most intimate relationship that one can have to objects,” Benjamin wrote. “Not that they have come alive in him; he lives in them.” In other words, we often discover ourselves in what we keep around us. But the progressive relationship, the codependence or co-evolution of collection and person, wouldn’t happen if the order of Benjamin’s shelves and the catalogue of his books kept changing every few months, entirely outside of his control. That’s what Spotify’s interface updates felt like to me: a total disruption of the pieces of art and culture that I identified with.

We don’t often think about bookshelves on their own, separate from what they contain, but they are great devices. They display books or albums and you can choose from among the displayed options in a relatively neutral way. The collector is the only one who decides how to arrange her possessions, ordering books by author, title, theme, or even (unfortunately) color of the cover — and they stay in the same places they’re put. That’s not true of our digital cultural interfaces, which follow the whims and priorities of the technology companies that own them.

They shift constantly and are far from neutral: If Spotify suddenly gives the category of podcasts a prominent new placement, for example, it’s because the company has decided that podcasts are going to make up more of its revenue in the future. The interfaces follow the company’s incentives, pushing its own products first and foremost, or changing familiar patterns to manipulate users into trying a new feature.

My lostness comes from the sense that our cultural collections are not wholly our own anymore. In the era of algorithmic feeds, it’s as if the bookshelves have started changing shape on their own in real time, shuffling some material to the front and downplaying the rest like a sleight-of-hand magician trying to make you pick a specific card — even as they let you believe it’s your own choice. And this lack of agency is undermining our connections to the culture that we love.
