It’s a new day.You wake up full of energy. And you start wondering about all the things you have to do.You make up your best plans and are ready to start your most productive day of the year. But then, time passes, and you’re left behind. You procrastinate a bit. Then, you remember you have to do something you have missed. Time passes. It’s evening. And you haven’t achieved much of what you imagined.

Productivity is not about filling your day with millions of tasks and doing none of them. It’s about making smarter choices that help your body and brand work more efficiently.  So, if you tweak your daily routines, you will achieve most of your goals.In this article, I wrote 45 simple ways to become more productive and change your life forever. Morning people tend to be more proactive and have more opportunities to succeed. So, wake up early and establish a good morning routine to tell your brain it’s time to work.

1 - Set your alarm to get off 5 minutes earlier every day until you wake up early in the morning (6-7 a.m.)2 - Move your alarm clock to force yourself to get out of bed to stop it.3 - Use natural light to help your body wake up without any artificial help.4 - Meditate for at least 10 minutes to get in the zone.5 - Exercise for at least 10 minutes to wake up your body.6 - Drink a glass of water to activate your metabolism.7 - Have a healthy breakfast to get in the mood for productivity.8 - Write a diary for 10 minutes to warm up your brain and focus abilities.

Most people perform at their peak before lunch because of the spikes in concentration and alertness. So, use the first part of the day to plan your work efficiently. Then, use your laser-sharp focus to get things done.

9 - Start working at the same time every day to make it a habit.10 - Write your to-do list or <a href="https://cosmopolitanmindset.substack.com/p/the-second-brain-method">check your second brain </a>to see what you must prioritize.11 - Resist the urge to check your e-mails until you finished your planning.12 - Use specific, achievable, and time-bounded tasks.13 - Set your phone on “ Do not disturb ” to <a href="https://www.cosmopolitanmindset.com/20-sneaky-procrastination-traps-that-almost-ruined-my-life/">avoid any distractions</a>.14 - Let other people know you won’t be available until you finish your first work session.15 - Eat the frog and complete the most challenging task of the day first.16 - Work on intervals of 30-60-90 minutes to plan your tasks easier.

17 - Track your time and set deadline limits. If your time has finished, move to the next task even if you haven’t completed the task to avoid chain delays. You will get back to it later if you save time elsewhere. 18 - Delegate or schedule in container slots all the micro-tasks that could take less than 10 minutes to finish. 19 - Don’t multitask to avoid context-switching delays. 20 - Keep a <a href="https://www.cosmopolitanmindset.com/idea-journal-best-tool-for-creative/">journal for any idea</a>. Your evening routines should all have one goal – a great night’s sleep. Sleeping well makes you wake up more energized and productive. 36 - Create a time threshold to stop working and thinking about work.37 - Avoid checking your phone too much to limit the effect of blue light on your sleep quality.38 - Prepare a generic to-do list with your most important tasks.39 - Stretch your body for 10-15 minutes to get tired for bed.40 - Avoid caffeine at least 6 hours before bedtime.41 - Read a book to help your mind transition into the sleeping mood.42 - Avoid alcohol to limit sleeping disruptions in the middle of the night.43 - Avoid high-fat meals that make it harder to sleep.44 - Use dark curtains to block our natural light.

The outcome is the same whenever you choose to live your life passively instead of proactively: regret.Pause and reflect on your past year: How much time did you spend embodying your life’s purpose? How much time did you waste on unproductive meetings, unnecessary activities and inefficient processes? Are you content with your career path? Are you truly happy in your personal life? Do you wish you had prioritized what matters to you? Remember, you only have one life and are responsible for making it count.

The journey of greatness requires these 4 steps:<ol><li class="ql-align-justify">“Own your game” – Take ownership of your life and avoid “playing the victim” when things don’t go as planned.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">“Be 100% all-in” – Commit to your game on an emotional, mental and physical level. Without commitment, you can’t create a workable strategy or achieve results – you’re just hoping something good happens.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">“Trust yourself enough to take risks without second-guessing your decisions.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">“Make hating to lose a priority” – Cultivate the discipline, dedication and “hate-to-lose mentality” required to be truly accountable to yourself and your goals. </li></ol>

Take ownership of your game and relentlessly pursue excellence in four steps.

Preparation is vital when playing to win.Preparing to play also means prioritizing your physical and mental health. You can’t achieve your goals or show up for others if you feel exhausted and depleted. Call a “timeout” if you need time to reset and re-energize. After your break, refocus by reminding yourself of your goals and priorities and adjusting your plans as needed. When you invest in building mental, emotional and physical strength, you develop the toughness and resiliency required to achieve, even when other people respond pessimistically to them.

Prepare mentally, physically and emotionally to “play the long game.”

In theory, it’s easy to understand the importance of healthy habits, yet 99% of people fail to make the changes needed to put the right habits into place. Reflect on your daily patterns: Are you taking intentional action toward your goals, or are you just relying on what feels familiar as you attempt to get through another day? Write down your daily habits.As James Clear explains in Atomic Habits, you may not see results overnight, but over time, small changes “compound into remarkable results.”

Work toward your goals relentlessly each day with the “one-percent mentality.”

Surround yourself with the right people by following these rules:<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Choose a team with the “It Factor” – Decide what success looks like to you, who are winning on your terms and inspire you to be your best every day.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Get sponsors and mentors – Connect with sponsors – professionals who’ve achieved higher levels of success than you.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Build a robust social network – Continually assess your social network and look for ways to expand it.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Identify cheerleaders and supporters – Not all your connections need to be the living embodiment of the kind of success you’re pursuing. </li><li class="ql-align-justify">Know when to ask for support. </li></ul>

Choose your team wisely on your journey toward success.

<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">When you experience stress at chronic, harmful levels, it can trigger serious health issues, such as high blood pressure – or even trigger a heart attack. Get your stress levels under control by doing three things: </li><li class="ql-align-justify">“Decide not to be stressed” – Have you ever noticed that some people get stressed out when faced with a challenging situation, while others don’t? </li><li class="ql-align-justify">Focus on what you can change – Don’t overly fixate on things you can’t control, including past failures or missed opportunities. </li><li class="ql-align-justify">Breathe – Your breathing tends to speed up when you’re stressed, so take some long, deep breaths. </li></ul>

Don’t let stress prevent you from excelling. Control it by following three rules.

Failure can be discouraging, but remember that every successful leader, athlete and entrepreneur has failed. The secret is to “fail forward”: Learn from situations that don’t go as you’d hoped and keep pursuing your goal. Think back to when you were a child: You learned how to walk by falling repeatedly. The same rule applies in adulthood. “Successful players in the game realize they must learn from situations so they can effectively navigate through it every time the situation pops up.”While you should become comfortable with failure, this doesn’t mean you should be comfortable with losses.

Reframe your view of failure. Look at it as a component of success.

When you commit to unleashing your full potential and living authentically, you do the world a service: You position yourself to share your talents and gifts with others. Take inspiration from Academy and Grammy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington and take the necessary risks to align with your purpose. “When you don’t care about what other people say, and you have let go of that fear of judgment, you have reached a dangerously amazing level of freedom.”

Do you want to build a side hustle? Study the market, find something you can sell, and pitch it to people. Do it every day, and you will be able to achieve productivity. That would be enough for a typical topic. But this is not the case.

And becoming hyper-productive is a hell of a challenge.But you don’t have to become hyper-productive to achieve good results. On the contrary, we should return to rudimental methods of simplicity.A piece of paper. An ordered to-do list. Maybe a few priorities – that’s all you need. Let’s focus on the basics. It is the hard work you will do to build something out of raw material and passion.And when you think about it like that, productivity is simple. So, to become more productive, start doing something with a purpose in mind. That’s everything you need.

A few months ago, I used to build hundreds of systems to keep track of my productivity.I still find Notion templates from 2020, where I took notes on the tasks I had to do and never checked.I prefer a more <a href="https://cosmopolitanmindset.substack.com/p/minimalism-for-the-modern-mind">minimalist approach </a>nowadays because I want simple things in my life. I discovered life’s already complicated as it is. I don’t want to overcomplicate it further.So, here are my three simple productivity lessons that can change your life forever.

Automation marked every step of human evolution. And it’s thanks to automation that we can do most of the things we do today.The Internet is the biggest example of how automation brought us so far. Luckily, no exploited humans upload your photo on the server when you publish it on Instagram. So, why wouldn’t you use this principle also in your life?Automate most of your day if you want to become more productive.<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">First, pick a task you want to improve. </li><li class="ql-align-justify">Then, choose the hour of the day in which you will do it. </li><li class="ql-align-justify">And repeat it every day until it becomes an automatic activity (<a href="https://cosmopolitanmindset.substack.com/p/the-habit-hacking-formula">a habit</a>).</li></ul>

Lesson #1 – Automate your life.

Lately, I’ve been using this system to fix my writing routine. And it has been doing wonders.I scheduled one hour of writing at the end of every workday. I told everybody I wouldn’t answer my phone between 6 and 7.30 p.m. (so I can write for more time when I’m not tired.) And I only need to show up every day.

Repetition makes your work better. And you become faster.When you repeat the same task every day:<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">you become better at it</li><li class="ql-align-justify">and you can achieve it faster.</li></ul>And even if you can’t improve your speed forever, quality compounds over time.

Lesson #2 – Keep the streak.

I always believed in the power of tracking repetitions to stay motivated. But that’s only a side effect you get.You will become more productive every day if you keep the streak. But the contrary is also true. The more time you spend away from being productive, the harder it will be to start over.So, here are three rules you should follow.<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Keep your streak as long as you can. </li><li class="ql-align-justify">Restart as soon as possible when you break it. </li><li class="ql-align-justify">And track your progress and longest streak. It will motivate you to show up daily.</li></ul>

The last thing that will increase your productivity is the elimination of friction.I gave up writing or working on my side hustle often because there was too much friction in my environment.<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">I forgot to charge my laptop and couldn’t write where I wanted.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">I didn’t have anything prepared and had to start from scratch.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Or I didn’t have a quiet place to do the work.</li></ul>But these issues are easily solvable. And they can improve your productivity quite a lot.

Lesson #3 – Eliminate the friction.

So, remove any friction that might stop you from doing your work daily.<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Put everything in the right place to start.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Prepare your work for the next day at the end of each session.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">And find the right place where to work. </li></ul>
