Make your stories engaging and memorable by incorporating the following 3 core elements:<ol><li class="ql-align-justify">Relatable Experience</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Conflict</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Resolution</li></ol>

3 Elements of Storytelling

<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">A story must begin with a relatable experience - a situation or a problem that your audience can relate to.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">You clarify what the main character of your story is trying to accomplish - Here's where we were. Here's where we were trying to get. And people make the connection to, oh, yeah, I've been in that similar situation.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">When people see themselves in the story, they are more likely to be engaged and emotionally invested.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Showing vulnerability can build trust and make the storyteller more relatable.</li></ul>

1. Relatable Experience

<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Next, you need to introduce some conflict. Something has to get in the way of that goal or else the story is pretty boring.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">This is what makes people pay attention because they start wondering - what's going to happen? How are we going to get to the end of this?﻿ </li></ul>

2. Conflict

<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Finally, you would describe how the conflict was resolved. Or alternatively, what happened because of which couldn't be resolved. And what can we learn from that?</li><li>Closure: The resolution should tie up the story’s loose ends and provide a satisfying conclusion.</li><li>Lesson or Insight: The resolution should offer a takeaway or moral that the audience can apply to their own lives.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Transformation: Show how the characters changed as a result of overcoming the conflict.</li></ul>

3. Resolution

Research shows that there are 3 distinct neurochemicals released in the brain corresponding to relatability, conflict and resolution.1. Oxytocin (trust hormone): When individuals can relate to the characters and situations in a story, it triggers an oxytocin response, leading to increased levels of trust towards the storyteller.

2. Cortisol (stress hormone): Introducing conflict and risk into a story increases cortisol levels in listeners' brains, making them more attentive. This explains why people remember information better when presented in a story format.3. Dopamine (pleasure hormone): A good resolution to a story triggers an increase in dopamine, offering a sense of satisfaction similar to completing a task or achieving a goal.

<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Writing Out the Story: Some people prefer to write their story word for word and rehearse it until it flows naturally. </li><li class="ql-align-justify"> Practicing in front of Others: Telling the story to someone else, and recording yourself can help in refining the narrative.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Visualizing the Scenes: Identify key scenes in your story - Think about what your characters see, hear, smell, taste, and feel. Find ways to describe these sensory experiences to your audience. This can make your story more immersive. </li></ul>
