Introversion and a poor ability to recognize people make networking an absolute minefield for introverts. You’re going to have a somewhat painful conversation with someone you don’t know, groping for some sort of common ground, or you’re going to have an even more awkward conversation with someone you’ve already talked to.

Networking doesn't work well for introverts

When famous, You lose the ability to filter out who you want to talk to, but at least everyone starts the conversation with some context; you’re outsourcing the extroversion to them.Fame is hard, and it has other costs. But there’s a second alternative: be micro-famous. Microfame is the best kind of fame because it combines an easier task (be famous to fewer people) with a better outcome (be famous to the right people).

Focus on the micro, not the fame. Micro-fame just means your friends-of-friends have a nonzero chance of knowing who you are and striking up a conversation with you about something mutually interesting.To an introvert, this is nirvana:<ul><li>You don’t have to introduce yourself to anyone.</li><li>You don’t have to conversationally grope around for something to talk about.</li><li>Your conversational partners are pre-selected for having shared obscure interests.</li></ul>

How to be micro-famous ?

There are a couple of problems with this, one of which is that plenty of normal people do this, too, just for broader interests: there’s a difference of kind, not degree, between someone who only wants to talk about weather, sports, and national politics on the one hand, and someone who only wants to talk about computational biology.But a side effect of the writing-as-networking strategy is that writing about your other interests gets other people interested.

Writing is Networking for Introverts | by Byrne Hobart

in the 1970s, job hopping was likened to vagrancy and branded ‘Hobo Syndrome’ by industrial psychologists. As such, the practice has received a bad rap in many quarters; from recruiters and executives, but also to older workers for whom accruing career capital was a hallmark of professional life.However, these stereotypes may be outdated. In a tight labour market and an environment where companies show less and less loyalty to workers, many of those who job hop are reaping the rewards, gaining sizable pay rises and greatly accelerating their career progression.

Job Hopping And The HOBO Syndrome

Following the Great Resignation and subsequent hiring crisis, job hopping seems to have swelled even further. A Linkedin survey shows that 25% of Gen Zers and 23% of millennials said they hoped or planned to leave their current employers within the next six months. With greater choice, workers have had greater opportunities to job hop. There has also been a generational shift in attitudes towards work. The traditional model was to work for a company that would effectively decide your progression for you. Today, people are autonomous – they want to take control of their careers.

The Move Towards An Autonomous Career

In many cases, when workers job hop, they effectively take bigger strides down their career path. When people change jobs, they collect skills, abilities and knowledge they can use in a future role. A worker that’s job hopped will likely have a greater wealth of experience to draw from, leading to a wider variety of jobs and companies available to them. Workers often job hop because of slow internal processes at their company. Moving to a new job can be a faster and easier way to progress to the next level in a career.

Taking Big Career Steps, Faster

Given its prevalence, job hopping is no longer taboo. However, its acceptance is generally industry-dependent. In other sectors, while an occasional short stint is likely to be overlooked, a consistent pattern of job hopping – new roles around every year or so – may arouse suspicion among recruiters. Until younger workers who have job hopped climb the ranks to do the recruiting, hiring managers from older generations may be more likely to offer roles to those they believe will be loyal to an employer.

Making The Right Moves

Traditional thinking is that employees should stay at a company for the long term – or at least a few years. But many workers swiftly switching roles are earning greater career riches.

What does it take to have a great culture? Is there even a formula that we can duplicate? Or it's just an intuitive and a once-in-a-lifeline anomaly? Well, it turned out that we can make use of the patterns that good organizations and groups have in common.

What Makes A Good Culture?

“Belonging cues are behaviors that create safe connection in groups. They include, among others, proximity, eye contact, energy, mimicry, turn taking, attention, body language, vocal pitch, consistency of emphasis, and whether everyone talks to everyone else in the group.”Safety is an important enabler that allows us to do great work.  A work environment in which you feel safe in acting as you naturally would and speaking your mind is very conducive to group work. It’s only natural: you don’t want to keep looking over your back all the time.

Build Safety

“Vulnerability doesn’t come after trust—it precedes it. Leaping into the unknown, when done alongside others, causes the solid ground of trust to materialize beneath our feet.”Jeff Polzer, a researcher of organizational behavior at Harvard, found that when we share our own flaws with others, something amazing happens. He calls it a vulnerability loop.Vulnerability not just increases trust, it’s also a way to show acceptance. If you admit no one’s perfect, people will feel okay even after making mistakes, which are inevitable in accomplishing a shared goal.

“When we hear a fact, a few isolated areas of our brain light up, translating words and meanings. When we hear a story, however, our brain lights up like Las Vegas, tracing the chains of cause, effect, and meaning. Stories are not just stories; they are the best invention ever created for delivering mental models that drive behavior.”It’s the sum of all beliefs and values among a team, as they relate to achieving a common goal. The goal is in the future, but a group lives in the now. PURPOSE should be like a bridge between the two.

There are 2 factors that drive person to do work - 1)Motivation, 2)Consitency Motivation <ul><li>Motivation is like "Self-kick" that helps us to do our work to reach goals.</li></ul>It's of 2 types -<ul><li>Intrinsic- means we're doing that work for "Internal satisfaction"</li><li>Extrinsic- means there is a FORCE that's driving us to do work. It can be money,car, luxury, or any other external lurable things. </li></ul>But Consistency is different , that is👇🏻

<ul><li>Consistency is doing "WORK" daily without giving much thought & make them HABITS.</li><li>Here "WORK" means it must be 'Productive' and 'Necessary' . For eg- Studying,Following passion,building skills & revising old ones(so they cannot be forgotten) are all productive things, and Eating, keeping body clean & fit, participating in Sports activities, etc are necessary things , an individual must practice daily.</li><li>"Without giving much thought" means you have "Planned" the 'road' on which you go to achieve your specified goal. And you just need to focus 'daily' on "small tasks" that will lead to that. </li></ul>

Consistency 

Motivation is like "Self-kick" to get us on track & Consistency is track on which we have to run to achieve our goals(Success).On track, we have to use our "energy & time" Wisely (Statistically- with planning) to get goal fastlyAnd Motivation "triggers" to go on that 'Consistency route'

As a manager, you’ve likely had things crop up at the last minute and disrupt your schedule: customer emergencies, unscheduled calls with your own manager, last-minute trips. But when your own boss cancels on you frequently, it’s not only frustrating, but it can feel like a slight or make you worry about your standing. If you find yourself on the receiving end of too many cancellations, it’s essential to talk to your boss about it directly.

Disruption In Your Schedule

A cancellation may feel like a <a href="https://hbr.org/2019/05/the-little-things-that-affect-our-work-relationships">slight</a> against you, but chances are, if your manager misses your meetings, they’re probably cancelling other meetings at the last minute, too.
